Chelsea Receives Two-Transfer Window Ban By FIFA

Feb 23, 2019 11:42 AM

Chelsea has received a two-transfer window ban after FIFA found them guilty of a serious and systemic breach of rules dealing with foreign players under the age of 18.

The Guardian revealed last month that Fifa had looked into more than 100 player cases at Chelsea and it emerged on Friday they had charged them with 92 breaches of article 19 alone.

Chelsea ultimately have the right to appeal to the court of arbitration for sport (Cas).

Chelsea was facing an uncertain short-term with Eden Hazard angling for a transfer to Real Madrid.

Willian, Pedro and Callum Hudson-Odoi are also out of contract at the end of next season.

Maurizio Sarri Unsure About Long-Term Future With Chelsea

Feb 20, 2019 10:18 AM

Maurizio Sarri is unsure about his future as manager of Chelsea.

Sarri's future could be decided by Chelsea's next two matches: against Malmo in the Europa League and Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.

"I have to think that I will be the manager of Chelsea for a long time, otherwise I cannot work," Sarri said. "I am not sure [it will work], but I have to think this. I have to work, and I want to work with a long-term target."

Key to supporter frustration with Sarri has been his reluctance to move away from his preferred 4-3-3.

"The system is a false problem," he insisted. "I know very well that, when we lose, [they say] I have to put a striker on the pitch. When we win, I have to put a defender on the pitch. But I want to see the football in another way."

Agent fees are delaying a contract extension between Manchester United and David de Gea.

United is hoping to finalize an extension with De Gea worth £350,000 per week over five years. The deal will be worth more than £90 million ($118 million) over five years.

De Gea, represented by Portuguese firm GestiFute, has 18 months to run on his contract after United triggered a one-year extension option in November that will keep him at the club until 2020.

Chelsea are not currently considering firing Maurizio Sarri.

Chelsea currently are sixth in the Premier League.
